The voluntary, Andante, Op. 3, No. 5, was composed by Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel (1805-1847), a gifted pianist and composer, and sister of the composer Felix Mendelssohn. Although considered a musical prodigy like her brother, she was not encouraged to pursue activities as a composer, but nevertheless kept up with composing and performing.
The postlude, Psalm XX, was an homage to the Italian composer Benedetto Marcello (1686-1739) written by Gordon Young (1919-1998), an American organist and composer from Kansas.
